C.R.O.P.S. is Communities Revolutionizing Open Public Spaces, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our mission is to alleviate food insecurity through empowering healthy, interconnected communities by cultivating fresh produce, ensuring access to nutritious food, providing educational programming, and advocating for sustainable food systems and collaborative solutions.

Programs

Cultivating Fresh Produce

We grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs in the Community Gardens that we manage (The Arc Community Garden in Pleasantville & Fisherman’s Park Community Garden in Atlantic City). These Community Gardens are open to the public for enjoyment, harvesting nutritious produce and weekly Garden Club.
Ensuring Access to Nutritious Food

We manage multiple Farmers Markets in Atlantic County that are SNAP/EBT, WIC & SFMNP authorized, as well as Atlantic City’s first Food Hub, a Corner Store Refrigeration Program, and our Farm Share Program of produce available for bi-weekly pickup in Atlantic City.
Providing Educational Programming

We teach our UCAN (Urban Coastal Agriculture Network) Farmer Training Program, a ‘Gardening, Eco-Art & Nutrition’ Workshop Series, partner with Atlantic City schools and other nonprofits to teach school garden programs, and facilitate Paid Internships.
Advocating for Sustainable Food Systems and Collaborative Solutions

We collaborate with local and state officials, as well as other nonprofits, groups and agencies to move forward food policies empowering our communities and strengthening our food system.

Impact

1,100+ pounds of vegetables harvested from the 2 Community Gardens we manage
$4,000+ in vouchers from Federal Assistance Programs from customers at our Farmers Markets over the past year through SNAP/EBT, WIC, SFMNP, & Good Food Bucks
75+ workshops facilitated, many of which are part of our ‘Gardening, Eco-Art & Nutrition’ Workshop Series
5 farmer participants in our UCAN Farmer Training Program have been building their farming & farming business skills since January 2024
100s of conversations with local, state, and county officials and other organizations to advocate for positive progress in our food system
600+ Paid Internship hours
Collaborating with 2 schools in Atlantic City for school garden programs
Collaborating with numerous nonprofit organizations in our community to facilitate educational programming in Community Gardens and workshops

Make a Donation

Donations & sponsorships fund C.R.O.P.S.’s operational costs like paying our staff to run our programs, utilities, and other expenses that are not available for reimbursement through our Funding Agreement with the CRDA, which reimburses C.R.O.P.S. for items and services enabling us to put our programs into action.
