Our Story

C.R.O.P.S. began in the summer of 2016, when founder Paige Vaccaro realized that she saw the struggles of her new South Jersey community in a different light. The struggling economy provided a unique landscape fertile for innovation, opportunity, and social change. From farmers markets to community gardens to educational programs, C.R.O.P.S. grew steadily, touching the lives of many through partnerships, internships, markets, events, programs, and other creative initiatives.

Currently, C.R.O.P.S. operates farmers markets in three locations with more coming soon, with the goal of being able to accept SNAP benefits at every market to increase accessibility to fresh local produce for everyone. C.R.O.P.S. also maintains gardens at three different locations and offers paid internships to locals to gain experience working in the gardens and at our markets and other local markets and events. C.R.O.P.S. hosts Community Day events, delivers presentations and workshops at schools and universities and maintains an active social media presence to assist and support other food justice and community initiatives.

Looking ahead, C.R.O.P.S. plans to open its first brick and mortar location called the C.R.O.P.S. Market and Center For Growth, which will be a small business incubator and offer community support, programs and educational opportunities alongside an urban market garden.

C.R.O.P.S. is a very small organization experiencing rapid growth. With no employees, volunteers and sponsors are crucial to our success. Please consider lending a hand or making a contribution today. Your support is appreciated and donations are tax deductible.
